- Visa Mandatory: Condition 8501 for Student Visa (Subclass 500)
- Full Visa Duration Cover: Continuous health cover required from arrival to visa expiry
- Provider Assistance: Newage Institute can arrange OSHC on your behalf
- Medical Protection: Doctor visits, hospital care, emergency ambulance, and select medicines
What Is Covered by OSHC?
We offer two formal pathways for international and domestic students to gain credit toward their qualifications (SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management or SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management).
What IS Covered:
Doctor & Specialist Visits: Consultations with General Practitioners (GPs) and medical specialists (out of hospital).
Hospital Accommodation & Care: In-patient hospital medical treatment, surgery, and accommodation in public or private hospitals (contracted).
Emergency Ambulance: Full cover for emergency ambulance transportation and medical treatment.
Prescription Medicines: Limited benefits for select prescription medicines listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).
Pathology & Radiology: Blood tests, X-rays, and diagnostic imaging ordered by a registered doctor.
What IS NOT Covered (Requires Extra Cover):
Dental Care: General or major dental procedures, check-ups, and teeth cleaning.
Optical & Eyewear: Eye tests, glasses, and contact lenses.
Physiotherapy & Chiropractic: Allied health services unless covered under extras policies.
Elective / Cosmetic Procedures: Non-essential or voluntary medical operations.
Pre-existing Conditions: Waiting periods (usually 12 months) apply for pre-existing medical conditions and pregnancy-related services.
